Register Trademark Online

A trademark is a unique mark registered with the Intellectual Property Office of Armenia that helps to distinguish a product, service, individual entrepreneur, or company from other businesses on the market. This can include the name, slogan, domain name, logo, or label - anything that makes the product stand out in the market.

Trademark rights arise from the moment it is registered with the "Intellectual Property Office of Armenia". To avoid claims from third parties, it is recommended to start using it from this point on. At the same time, the law does not prohibit using a designation (name or logo) during the registration process or even without registration as a trademark. However, there are risks associated with using a designation that has not been registered. For example, there is a risk of violating someone's rights without realizing it.

A trademark can be registered in the name of a legal entity, individual, or individual entrepreneur. The application can be submitted by the applicant directly or through a representative. Trademark registration with the "Intellectual Property Office of Armenia" can now be done electronically from any city in the Republic of Armenia. To apply for trademark registration, you will need to provide basic information about the future owner of the copyright, such as the name of the company, legal address, as well as the designation being submitted for registration.

The trademark registration process typically takes between 4 and 7 months, with most of that time spent on the examination process. The exact duration of the examination period depends on the current laws and regulations of the Republic of Armenia as well as any relevant international treaties that apply.

Despite the fact that it takes more than a year to verify and state examine a trademark and obtain a certificate, you receive temporary protection for your trademark the day you file an application - after that, no competitor can apply for registration of a similar or identical trademark. Instead, an application may be submitted, but registration will be denied, since your application has earlier priority.

According to part 1 of Article 8 of the Law, the following can be registered as trademarks: 1. Words, phrases, names, or slogans 2. Letters or numerals 3. Pictures, images, or symbols 4. 3D images of the appearance of a product or its packaging 5. Holograms, colors, color combinations, or compositions 6. Sound signals 7. Any combination of the items listed in paragraphs 1-5 of this list Note that this is not an exhaustive list, and other designs may also be eligible for registration as trademarks depending on the specific circumstances.

The validity period of trademark registration is ten years, counting from the date of filing the application. The validity period of trademark registration can be extended repeatedly, each time for 10 years for all goods and (or) services or part of them.

Residents of the Republic of Armenia have the right to register a trademark in other countries by submitting an application directly to the relevant authority in the country where they wish to obtain legal protection for their trademark or make an international registration.
